The political System in Ethiopia is Democratic Republic. The Prime Minister is the head of government, and the parliament has two houses (House of People Representatives and the Federal Parliament) with a legislative power. The Supreme Federal Court is the top of the judicial authority. In its administrational form, it divides in to nine states, mentioned alphabetically as follows:

  • Afar

  • Amhara

  • Benishangul Gumuz

  • Gambella

  • Harar

  • Oromia

  • Sidama

  • Somjalia

  • Southern state

  • Tigray

  • And Two Charter Cities

  • Addis Ababa

  • Diredawa

About Addis Ababa: Addis Ababa is the Capital and largest city in Ethiopia, and is often called the Capital of Africa for its historical, political and diplomatic importance to the continent. It is also home of the African Union and UN Economic Commission for Africa’s headquarters. The city is located at approximately 2,400 above sea level. The city is moderately safe however one must take precautions.
