Economic Commission of Africa


The United Nations Economic Commission of Africa was established in 1958 to promote economic cooperation between African state members and it is one of the five regional commissions for the ECOSOC. The commission is focused on the following key thematic areas:

  • Macroeconomic policy and governance

  • Regional integration and trade

  • Private sector development and finance

  • Data and statistics

  • Technology, Climate Change and natural resource management

  • Gender, Poverty and Social Policy

  • Economic development and planning

 

And there five sub regional offices (SROs):
