HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani sent a cable of congratulations today to HE President Taye Atske Selassie, on the occasion of his election and taking the constitutional oath as President of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia, wishing him success and the relations between the two countries further development and growth

H.H. the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani sent a written message to H.E. Dr. Abiy Ahmed Ali, Prime Minister of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia, pertaining to bilateral relations and means of supporting and developing them. The message was delivered by Mr. Mohamed Ismail Mustafawi, Acting Chargé d'Affaires of the Embassy of the State of Qatar in Ethiopia, during his meeting with H.E. Ambassador Negus Kebede, Director General for Middle East, Asia and Pacific Affairs at the Ethiopian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

On the occasion of the International Translation Day, Mr. Mohammed Thamer Al Mazrouei- Second Secretary at the Embassy of the State of Qatar in Ethiopia, participated in the ceremony held at the headquarters of the Economic Commission for Africa in Addis Ababa, in the presence of a number of heads and representatives of diplomatic missions and officials of international and regional organizations in Ethiopia.

Upon the invitation extended to the Embassy by the Ethiopian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Mohammed Thamer Al-Mazrouei - Second Secretary at the Embassy of the State of Qatar to Ethiopia, participated in the opening of the 6th session of the House of People's Representatives and the 4th year of the Federal Council. The session witnessed the appointment ceremony of Amb. Taye Aske-Selassie as President of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia and took the oath of office before the two houses. The event was attended by ambassadors of various countries, representatives of international institutions, religious leaders, prominent figures, leaders of competing parties and other invited guests.

H.E. Mesganu Arga - State Minister at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia, received at his office H.E. Saad Mubarak Al-Naimi - Ambassador of the State of Qatar to Ethiopia and Permanent Representative to the AU. During the meeting, ways to develop and strengthen bilateral relations between the two countries were discussed.

H.E. the Ambassador of the State of Qatar to the FDRE, accompanied by Mr. Mohammed Thamer Al-Mazroei _Second Secretary at the Mission, paid a field visit to the headquarters of the Ethiopian News Agency (ENA). They were received by Mr.Seife Deribe CEO of the Ethiopian News Agency. During the visit, the two sides reviewed opportunities for cooperation and ways to enhance it.

H.E the Ambassador of the State of Qatar to the FDRE and the Permanent Representative to the AU, held a meeting with H.E. Ambassador Salah S. Hammed - Senior Human Rights Expert of the Department of Political Affairs of the AUC. During the meeting, the two sides discussed issues of mutual interest related to the African Union.

H.E the Ambassador of the State of Qatar to the FDRE and the Permanent Representative to the AU, received a courtesy visit in his office from H.E. Mr. Alzain Ibrahim- Ambassador of the Republic of Sudan to the FDRE. They reviewed bilateral relations between the two countries, and discussed issues of mutual interest related to the AU.

H.E. the Ambassador of the State of Qatar to the FDRE and Permanent Representative to the AU, upon the gracious invitation of H.E. Ms. Adanech Abebe - Mayor of Addis Ababa, had the honor of participating in the National Event of Planting 600 Million Seedlings in a single day. As part of efforts to enhance the green cover and preserve the environment.

H.E. the Ambassador of the State of Qatar to the FDRE and Permanent Representative to the AU, received in his office, accompanied by Mr./ Mohammed Thamer Al - Mazroei - Second Secretary at the Embassy, Dr. Seifu Getahun Abera - Ethiopian Red Cross Society board member. During the meeting, the two sides reviewed the joint cooperation relations, In particular, the decision of the State of Qatar to run for membership of the permanent Committee of the Red Cross and Red Crescent, represented by H.E Mr. Faisal Mohamed Al-Emadi – Secretary General of the Qatar Red Crescent Society, during the elections to be held during the 34th International Conference of the Red Cross and Red Crescent in Geneva from October 28 to 31, 2024.
